University Challenge is a prime-time, elimination quiz show where the best quizzing teams from top universities vie for top honours in a head-to-head challenge with opponent university teams. The programme has been running on BBC in the UK for the last 40 years as the licensed version of the American programme College Bowl. Due to a collaboration between British Council India and Synergy Communications, the series has been brought to India. Four special episodes featuring top UK University Challenge teams playing Indian teams launched the show. The UK teams were brought to India courtesy of the British Council to participate in the recordings in Delhi.
